    <description>&lt;br/&gt;The Springfield Regional Arts Council is pleased to invite all area writers to the newly-formed Creamery Red Ink Writing Workshop to help nurture creative literary projects in SW Missouri.  As part of the Arts Council's outreach program, the weekly workshops are free to the public and designed to instill a love of writing and reading as well as to encourage and support participants in their writing projects.  Discussions will take place on techniques of prose composition (plot structure and character development), syntax, diction, theory and all aspects of the art of writing fiction and non-fiction.  Workshop attendance is limited to 25 participants.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;  Call Sandra CH Smith (Arts Council director) at 417-862-2787 for information and to "enroll". The five finalists will again be scored by a new panel of judges who will then select the very first Ozarks Regional Air Guitar Champion, along with awarding him or her with lots of great prizes.     <description>This coming Friday is the first of 3 "Pearl White Silent Film Summer
Series" hosted by Collette-Parker Restoration and The Moxie Cinema at
Historic Firehouse #2, Commercial &amp; Boonville.

Starting at 8pm (or dusk whichever comes first), Pearl White in 
"Perils of Pauline" with live ragtime piano courtesy of Jerry Haden 
&amp; friends followed by Buster Keaton's "The General", a classic by
anyone's standards, with our very own Jerry Haden tickling
the ivories.  Admission is $6 with under 12 free.  
Popcorn, frozen treats and beverages will be available.

Weather permitting, the films will be shown on an outside wall,
drive-in size!  If it rains, we simply move inside to the cozy
firehouse interior and a slightly smaller wall!

Bring your friends and a blanket if you prefer a reclining position!

&lt;The annual exhibition attracts entries from across the United States. The competition this year received 618 entries by 344 artists from 40 states.&lt;br/&gt;
