Creamery's September 4 First Friday ExhibitionTo Feature Shirley Yiping Chinese Watercolor Artist and Plein aire group exhibiton.

The Springfield Regional Arts Council in conjunction with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce will present “Grateful and Giving” an exhibition of original artwork by Shirley Yiping Zhang at The Creamery Arts Center opening with a reception from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. during First Friday Art Walk on Friday, September 4 and running through Monday, September 28.

The exhibition will feature over 30 pieces of artwork created by Zhang using various Chinese styles including Gongbi, Xie yi, Gouache and Baimiao. Zhang’s artwork aims to express the beautiful parts of life in the world with a concentration on landscapes, flowers and birds. Some of her work also focuses on integration of Chinese traditional painting styles, music, calligraphy, Chinese language and literature.

Zhang, from Beijing, China, is currently an Executive MBA Student studying at Missouri State University.

A Meet the Artist event will be held from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Friday, September 4 at The Creamery Arts Center where Zhang will demonstrate Chinese painting technique as well as perform songs based on the literature found in some of her paintings. This event is free and open to the public.

Exhibition hours after First Friday Art Walk are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
