SENIOR ART PATRONS - CREATE A PLEDGE TO SPRINGFIELD REGIONAL ARTS COUNCIL
WITHOUT EVEN WRITING A CHECK!!
Sound too good to be true? If you are over age 70 and have an IRA, all it takes is a call (or perhaps a letter) to your IRA administrator, and you could make your charitable contribution to the Arts Council for the next few years, without it affecting your cash on hand.
But you must hurry, because this window of opportunity closes (under current law) on December 31, 2007. So, if you would rather not take your minimum annual distribution from your IRA, or otherwise would like to make a gift without first taking the income (and paying tax on it), this strategy is definitely worth looking into!
For more information, call Sandra CH Smith, Exec. Director of the Arts Council, at 417-862-ARTS(2787). You might also want to discuss this with your tax advisor before taking actions, as there are specific rules to follow.
