Historic Walnut Street charms visitors with stately manors and fabled gingerbread landmarks that anchor the residential east end and transition to the boutique shops and lodging, offices, restaurants, and apartments toward the west end of the historic district. It also provides UDA with the venue for staging Artsfest and Cider Days – Springfield’s premiere outdoor festivals with Artsfest centered on the artistic creations for public purchase and Cider Days focusing on the arts as well as regional crafts. HWSA is a member-based organization which encourages neighborhood-appropriate retail development.
