CALL FOR ARTISTS and DESSERT DIVAS
The Springfield Regional Arts Council, for its November 2008 exhibition at the Creamery, will feature the Culinary Arts, partnering with the Springfield-Greene County Libraries. SRAC invites all dessert divas to create cakes decorated to the max which will be exhibited at the Creamery for First Friday, Nov. 7th, with a Best of Show Prize ($100) awarded at the reception that night.

In connection with the cake-decorating competition, local and regional artists are invited to submit digital jpgs of up to two paintings/artworks based on a culinary theme. These could be actual ceramic or clay cakes or veggies or paintings or photos of these, or quilts or collages of still lifes which would picture something edible or of a culinary nature. The Arts Council will make a decision as to which can be fit into the exhibition in the Creamery Exhibition Hall and the Arts Council Office Gallery. There will also be a Best of Show Prize of $100 awarded in the art category.
Deadline to submit the jpgs of the artwork is October 7th and they should be emailed to Sandra@SpringfieldArts.org.
Anyone interested in entering the cake-decorating competition, please send an email to that effect and we will send you details and an application as soon as they are hot off the press. Questions? Email only, please, to Sandra@SpringfieldArts.org

ART IN PUBLIC PLACES PROGRAM (Banks Are Beautiful!, Credit Unions Are Classy!, Doctors/Dentists’ Offices Are Dandy!, Government Offices Are Gorgeous!): That’s a lot of space to show your art! 862-(ARTS)2787. If you are interested in showing your work, please send an email indicating you have a body of work of at least 15 paintings or more that would be ready to hang now OR after Jan. 1st. Email Leslie@SpringfieldArts.org with a copy to Sandra@SpringfieldArts.org and we’ll get busy lining you up with a venue! Even though you might not sell a lot of work at these exhibitions, it still gets your name out there as an artist and gives you an opportunity to pick up a commission and share your work with possible future buyers.

STOREFRONT STUDIOS:
We have one studio space still available at 319 N. Main Street and the artists there (plus a writer and a photographer and several architecture students) are finding the studio spaces really great for creativity and sharing ideas from time to time. If you would like the last space, it is $50/month and we have an Agreement you sign where you agree to respect the building and the other studio folks. There is a $50 security deposit required up front which you get back after you move out and we find the space tidy and clean. The Arts Council covers all utilities and insurance. You get a key and can go in and out anytime you like! Call the Arts Council for an appointment to see the space, 862-ARTS(2787).
