Hearts for the Arts 2018

The annual “Hearts for the Arts” online art auction has raised over $20,000 in support of the Springfield Regional Arts educationalprogramming. These vital arts programs serve at least 20,000 community members, all at no cost to the individual, due to the generosity of SRAC’s donors, artists, grant funds, and events like Hearts for the Arts.

Last year, local artists donated 50 works of art to SRAC for Hearts for the Arts, which were bid on by the public online and in person raising close to $4,000. It is the only time that the SRAC asks artists to donate a piece of their time or work. This year’s event, Hearts for the Arts: Beaus & Eros, will close with a festive Valentine-themed party on Friday, February 2nd from 5pm to 8pm. The event includes complimentary beverages, small bites, live entertainment, and the exclusive opportunity to outbid online donors.

“This year celebrates a big milestone for Hearts for the Arts. We want to see this event grow and change in a way that responds to the growth and need for our arts education programming,” says Leslie Forrester, Executive Director. “From the local artists who donate their work, to the talented working artists and instructors who lead our programs, to the art lovers who attend our events, this is truly a community effort and we hope this is the most successful auction yet.

Artists interested in donating work to Hearts for the Arts are encouraged to contact Rachel Johnson at 417-862-2787. Works of art should be dropped off at The Creamery Arts Center, January 8 & 9, 2018, 9am-5pm. Works can be of any size or medium, but they must be wired and ready-to-hang. Works do not have to reflect the event’s theme, but are encouraged to do so. Participating artists receive multiple recognition opportunities, including display of their donated work through the month of January and February.

The Hearts for the Arts auction begins online on Monday, January 15th, and runs through Friday, February 2nd. Patrons can bid online at www.SpringfieldArts.org , or stop by The Creamery, located at 411 North Sherman Parkway, and bid in person.
