Banks are Beautiful! At Bancorp South

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Bancorp South (3211 E. Battlefield) will host Banks are Beautiful! featuring the artwork of two local artists, Dale Augustson and James Crafford, both of Springfield. The exhibit will open with a reception on May 16, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibit will remain until June 27.

Dale Augustson attended Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and went on to receive an AA degree in Photography from College of Du Page Glen Ellyn, IL and a BS in Fine Art from Drury University in Springfield. Dale teaches several art classes including Unconventional 3-Dimensional Stained Glass, Acrylic Collage Painting, and Freeform Mosaics at Ozarks Technical College. His work is regularly exhibited at local galleries as well as the Tall Grass Art Gallery in Chicago, IL. Dale is a member of Best of Missouri Hands and most recently painted two rain barrels for the James River Basin Rain Barrel Reveal Project.

James Crafford can be described as a naturalist and artist. He is a self-taught, award winning, published artist. After graduating from Missouri Southern State University with a degree in Computer Information Science, James has pursued a professional career outside the arena of art to support his habit. A passion for reproducing what he sees has made him keep pursuing his ambition of being an artist. He has continued to create work in several media including charcoal, pen & ink, pencil, acrylic, oils, pastels, metal, and wood.
