Help for Haley, produced by Central High School
Please mark your calendar, bring your family and friends –The Benefit Event to show our support for Haley Stevens and Gretchen Teague. Saturday night, May 31st…There will be fun, food and stuff to buy!
Our dear friend and colleague Gretchen Teague has received a diagnosis for her daughter Haley Stevens. Haley has ALS, sometimes called Lou Gehrig's disease and is quite possibly the youngest person ever to be diagnosed with the disease. As you probably know, there is no known cure. We do know that ALS rarely strikes one so young as Haley, who began this school year as a member of the CHS Dance Team and Kilties. This season, at the VCTheatre, she assisted her mother staging the dances for JEKYLL & HYDE: THE MUSICAL and the direction of ROMANCE/ROMANCE. Haley is an amazing young woman who continues to go to school even after she was confined to a wheelchair. She is a cherished member of our Central and SPS family and we want to be a great help and support to her and her family. We have set up an account at Empire Bank called the Haley Stevens Fund.
You can make donations at any of the 14 area Empire Banks. The family’s most immediate need is to make their home more accessible for Haley's wheelchair. Please call 227-0957 if you have questions.
A fund raising event is Saturday May 31 at 7:00 in the Central High School auditorium to benefit Haley, and to provide needed funds to help the Teagues take care of Haley's special needs as time goes by. Area bands, Central groups and local theatre friends of Gretchen, Shawn and Haley will share their talents in helping Haley and the Teague family. There will be a silent auction as well as an Ice Cream Social to round out the evening's events. To make ticket reservations, call 869-3059. Adult tickets are $10.00 and student tickets are $7.00.
