Rebel Quilter Exhibits at Creamery Arts Center

Friday, June 13, 2008

Rebel Quilter, Susan Leslie Lumsden, loves to wallow in color. In fact, while most of her fiber projects start out as white silk or cotton, they end with saturated hues and lots of texture. Her medium is art quilts and a collection of her work will be on display at the Creamery Arts Center, 411 N. Sherman Parkway, through July 30th.

Lumsden’s work is mostly large-scale --7 ft x 13 ft for one of them-- and has attracted collectors nationally. She has received seven national awards in the last three years for her work. Her most recent project was a commission by Missouri State University for their Plaster Student Union. Additionally, Lumsden's artwork was featured as the cover art for Missouri Art Commission's Annual Report for 2007.

The Lumsden exhibition is also a part of the Creamery’s First Friday offerings, open free to the public, with a reception July 4th from 6 to 9pm.
