TINTYPES previews/opens this weekend at the Vandivort; auditions set for DRACULA

Our Box Office is open Tuesday-Friday 12-5 PM, Saturday 3-5 PM, Sunday 12-2 PM and one hour prior to all evening performances, with tickets on sale for TINTYPES. The theatre is located at 305 E. Walnut Street, 4th floor, in downtown Springfield MO. Call 417-831-8001 (out of town 888-452-0930) for tickets or more information. Tickets may be purchased over the phone, using a credit card or in person, at our box office.
Volunteer ushers are needed for most performances. Call to sign up a receive complementary seating for that performance. Ushers need to report to the theatre 45 minutes before each performance.
TINTYPES, the red, white and blue musical, opens this weekend
Return to turn of the century America, when the innocent, slower-paced days of ice cream socials and hoop skirts are giving way to a bustling world of automobiles, electricity and the telephone. The story of these changing times comes to life in a tuneful, high-spirited brew of popular songs from 1890 to 1917. A red, white and blue summer musical. Featuring “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” “Hello, Ma Baby,” “In My Merry Oldsmobile,” “Toyland,” “Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home?,” “Shortnin’ Bread,” “The Yankee Doodle Boy” and a cavalcade of music from pre-WWI America.
The cast features RACHEL GITEL, GARY LYONS, CONZY MITCHELL-BURNS, MELISSA SLAMB and SHAWN TEAGUE. Production staff: Conceived by Mary Kyte with Mel Marvin and Gary Pearle; Gary Lyons, director; Ned Wilkinson, vocal/music director; Marty Almaraz, choreographer; with designers: Barbara Dullum, Dave Loftin, Louis H. Schaeffer and Dennis Stewart. Production stage manager Kate Foster.
July 3-5, 10-12, 17-19, 2008 at 7:30 PM, July 6 & 13 at 2 PM. Tickets: July 3 & 4 all seats: $15 ($10 children 12 and under); Fri & Sat: $20 adult/$18 student/senior/$12 children; Thurs & Sun: $18/$16/$12. Student Rush Tickets $10, if seats are available 30 minutes before each performance.
Come to this Saturday’s performance and stay for our “Opening Night Lobby Reception” July 5. Plan to join the cast and production staff for summer refreshments following the evening performance.
Auditions set for DRACULA
DRACULA, by Steven Dietz, directed by Nathan Shelton, featuring original music by “Family Guy’s” Bryan Arata.
Bram Stoker's classic tale of blood lust, morality, and the ultimate battle between good and evil returns to the Vandivort stage with a vibrant and breathtaking spin on the story! When an evil force is unleashed upon the helpless citizens of London, a small band of heroes must face their worst nightmares to combat the devastating plague of darkness that has infected them. Led by Van Helsing, these brave men and women fight not only for their lives... but for their very souls!
Roles:
Renfield (late 20s, early 30s, BRITISH) A madman, fighting for his soul.Van Helsing (mid 50’s, DUTCH) A professor and expert in the supernatural.Jack Seward (late 20’s, BRITISH) Lucy’s suitor, head of a lunatic asylum.Lucy (early 20’s, BRITISH) Mina’s friend, who suffers a dark and tragic fate.Mina (early 20’s, BRITISH) A strong willed woman engaged to Jonathan Harker.HARKER (mid 20’s, BRITISH) Mina’s fiancé, and solicitor to the Count.Dracula (appears in his early 30’s, ROMANIAN, BRITISH) A Count from Transylvania.Maid (any age, COCKNEY) weak-willed servant to Lucy.Attendants (3 men of various age, COCKNEY) workers in the asylum.Vixens (3 women of various age, ROMANIAN) *** The grotesque and beautiful brides of Dracula. ***The INFECTED (several men and women of various age) the vampires, who serve as ushers, scene shifters, madmen, and other dark purposes...NOTE: *** indicates roles where partial nudity is called for.***
If you have issues with this do not audition for these roles. Likewise if you have problems being a part of a production with blood, gore, violence, and nudity... this may not be the thing for you.
AUDITION DATES: Monday, July 14th and Tuesday, July 15th
TIME: 6:30 - 9:30 PM.

AUDITIONS will consist of COLD READINGS from the script, with possible improvisation and movement exercises.
CALLBACKS: Wednesday, July 16th @ 7:00 pm.

Vandivort Theatres’ “Flex Pass” season tickets go on sale July 3
Our popular “Flex Pass” season tickets will go on sale in the VCTheatre Box Office on July 3, with the first preview of TINTYPES. The discounted season tickets will be the same price as in the past two seasons: 5 Shows for $80 Adult, $70 Senior/Student; 10 Shows for $150 Adult, $130 Senior/Student; 15 Shows for $210 Adult, $180 Senior/Student. The 2008-2009 “Flex Pass” can be used at all Vandivort productions, at both theatres: the Vandivort Center Theatre, 305 E. Walnut St. and the Vandivort 2nd Stage, 440 S. Campbell Ave., in downtown Springfield MO.
