Pre-K Make Your Mark!

Bring your littlest artist for some hands-on fun! Each week, you and your child can make your mark using a variety of tools and materials in an exploratory open-studio setting. Drop in once or come every week! These sessions are designed for kids ages 3-5 with a caregiver.  These open studios are free, but pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Register here:

Slow Art Day

Slow Art Day is a global event with a simple mission: help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art. One day each year – April 8 in 2017 – people all over the world visit local museums and galleries to look at art slowly. Come and look on your own, or join our teaching artists at 4pm as they offer participants some out-of-the-ordinary ways to enjoy taking more time with art.

Missouri State University MFA Showcase

Join the Springfield Art Museum for  the MFA Showcase. Featuring 11 of Missouri State University's Master of Fine Arts graduate students, exhibiting work in all media, curated by the students themselves. This showcase exhibition runs through May 21. Viewers be advised that this show contains adult themes.

The exhibit is free during Art Museum hours, 10am-6pm in the Weisel & Kelly Galleries.

Shakespeare at the Columns: The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) [Revised]

Previously advertised as "The Winter's Tale," the Actors Theatre of Missouri in association with The Dangerous Playground and Rice Theatricals, now plan to present "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) [Revised]" by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield. Shakespeare at the Columns is the quintessential Springfield summer event. This event is free and open to the public. Bring your own chair or blanket. In case of inclement weather, the production will take place in the Museum's auditorium.
