In Loving Memory
Alyce Cox is a native of Missouri but was raised in California since the age of five. Her first introduction to art began at the age of twelve when she modeled for her mother’s art class. As an adult, with creativity in her blood, she began a successful career as a hairstylist. She learned the theory of design, form, color, and compositions as well as hand to eye coordination which led her on the journey of becoming an artist.
From her first attempt at putting the brush from paint to canvas, Cox felt a passion for painting. She then sought out every opportunity to learn about art. She started at Glendale College, attended workshops with other artists and then studied under some of the most prestigious contemporary artists in southern California. She has received much recognition for her artistic efforts, including winning numerous awards at regional Art Association Juried Shows. She is a Painting Patron of the California Art Club, and has exhibited her work in solo shows and group shows at Descanso Gardens.
Around 2010, Cox moved back to Missouri to her roots, her family, her faith and the future. She now paints full time in her studio with her inspiration being all of God’s creations. She feels blessed to bring joy to everyone who partakes in her works of art.
