We know that for a lot of people it is hard to commit during the summer to a 6 or 8 week stretch in which you need to be available for classes once a week. Every year we hear people try to work their vacations around the classes or visa versa. This summer we decided to try something new. We will maintain our regular evening class structure but in addition, we will have 3 drop-in class time slots a week. These will be Mondays from 2 to 5, Wednesdays from 5 to 8, and Fridays from 2 to 5. Participants can purchase punch cards with 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 visits. Whether you want to come to one class a week or two or three, start half way through the summer, take a two week break in the middle, or just hit a class when you feel like it, this program will work for you.
Classes will work for students from Beginner (never touched clay) to Intermediate (can throw most basic forms). Participants can start at any point between May 30th & Aug 29th. Classes will be structured to fit what the group needs. Over the course of the three hour class each student will be helped by the teacher to achieve their goals. The teacher will start with the students that can not work independently and work up to the more advanced students.
Because this drop-in system is more fluid than our regular classes you may have days when you have the teacher all to yourself. Conversely, there may be days when all the wheels are occupied. We will be doing a wheel reservation list that will open each Sunday for the following week. You will be able to call and reserve a wheel for the day you want to take a class. If you don't have a reservation, you are still welcome to drop in but there may not be an empty wheel and you could take the opportunity to decorate you work with carved or sculptural elements.
This program does not come with open studio time or access to the studio outside of drop in class times. Each time you enter the studio to work you will be using one of your punch card visits. You must have your punch card on you to participate in a class. No exceptions. We will not be able to replace lost cards. You will need to come to the 1506 E St Louis St location prior to your first visit to the clay studio to collect your punch card. This location is open Tuesday to Saturday 11 to 5.
This program also does not come with clay. You can purchase a variety of clays at our shop which is location at 1506 E St Louis St. A full stick of clay is 25lbs and costs between $18 and $28. You can also bring in clay from other sources for your class but we need the full name and cone of the clay you bring in, as well as where you purchased it. We only fire Cone 6 clay.
Punch cards can not be shared. Your name will be placed on the card during your first visit and you may be asked to show proof of ID at subsequent visits. The person who purchases the card can gift it. The card becomes non transferable upon receiving its first punch. This program is for participants 14 years old, no exceptions.
We will be closed the whole week of July 4th for our studio Summer Holiday (July 2 to 9). We will do our best to be open for all other drop in classes. If a class has to be cancelled due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, we will announce the closure on Facebook. If you have reserved a wheel for the cancelled class, you will be contacted directly.
Twelve punch cards can be purchased until Aug 1st.
Ten punch cards can be purchased until Aug 5th.
Eight punch cards can be purchased until Aug 10th.
Six punch cards can be purchased until Aug 15th.
Four punch cards can be purchased until Aug 20th.
After May 29th, punch card are non-refundable. Any visits left on your card as of Aug 29th become null and void and are not subject to refund or credit. This policy is firm and will not have exceptions for changed plans, relocations, sickness, etc.
Classes will take place at our 1637 E St Louis St location.
