The SPRINGFIELD-DRURY CIVIC ORCHESTRA, Christopher Koch, music director, is the winner of The American Prize in Orchestral Performance, 2019, in the community orchestra division. The SPRINGFIELD-DRURY CIVIC ORCHESTRA was selected from applications reviewed recently from across the United States.
The American Prize is the nation's most comprehensive series of non-profit competitions in the performing arts, unique in scope and structure, designed to recognize and reward the best performing artists, ensembles and composers in the United States based on submitted recordings. The American Prize was founded in 2009 and is awarded annually in many areas of the performing arts.
Founded in 2005, the Springfield-Drury Civic Orchestra is southwest Missouri’s regional civic orchestra. Comprising more than 100 talented professionals, students, and enthusiasts, the SDCO presents a yearly concert season of great orchestral masterworks, often performing regional premieres of newly composed works as well as masterworks of the orchestral canon.
