alcohol ink

Michelle Martin

Missouri-based artist Michelle Martin creates abstract paintings with alcohol ink. She uses the ebb and flow of the ink to make a tangible expression from the head to the page. Her abstract works are inspired by memories and moments; sometimes weathered and often raw.

Michelle’s artwork connects the audience to their own experiences and shares the commonality of human emotion. Her art is delicate, full of movement, and filled with intricate details. This creative style offers a contemplative escape from the routine of each day; drawing the audience towards inward reflection.

I'm excited to share my collection of work with you. These pieces reflect the various stages of my four-year journey in encaustic painting. After a long break from the fine arts, I found myself needing to disconnect from the daily barrage of technology. So, I taught myself the basics of encaustics and I began experimenting in photo encaustics. I soon transitioned into abstract landscapes and nonrepresentational pieces. I enjoy exploring the texture, translucent quality, and fluidity that can be achieved through the medium.
