Vonda Yarberry will be presenting a survey of her work in animation and video covering the last 10 years. The work includes collaborations on stage and work exhibited in galleries and museums.
“My work has evolved over time through multiple forms. Whether installation, performance or screen-based work, the position of the viewer in the physical or conceptual realm has always been at the work's basis. The current work is installation-oriented, moving images playing across multiple, small, low-resolution screens. Sometimes also, those small screens are paired with larger projections on the wall that appear more ethereal. This work asks viewers to see the relationships and make connections between the content and the physicality of the presentation.”
Ms. Yarberry was born in Kansas City, Missouri and has degrees from the Kansas City Art Institute and Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts. Accepting a faculty appointment in 1989 at Missouri State University, She led the Digital Arts/Animation program in the Art & Design Department until July when she was appointed the Interim Department Head position.
Following the presentation, Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild members and visitors are invited to participate in an artist “show and share."
The program will start at 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the National Avenue Christian Church, 1515 S. National Avenue, Springfield, Mo. 65804
Admission is free and open to the public.
