The Springfield Regional Opera celebrates Leonard Bernstein during their 39th season, and kicks off the year wear with "Wine Lovers: The Musical," hosted by international opera star, Michael Spyres.

In February of 1786, Emperor Joseph II of Austria set up a 'musical competition' in his Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna, pitting a German singspiel (Mozart's The Impresario) against an Italian opera buffa (Salieri's First the Music, then the Words). Join us as we re-create this legendary confrontation in the beautiful Hotel Vandivort Ballroom!

Our 2018-2019 season ends with the Springfield premiere of Bernstein's beloved Candide, based on Voltaire's brilliant and satirical novel. Journey to Westphalia and follow the outrageous adventures of Candide and Cunegonde as they seek peace and love.
