Picture this: You arrive at the Springfield Little Theatre Education Facility. As you approach the Studio Theatre, a loud-mouthed kid slaps a name tag on you and hands you a menu. You take your seat, open your menu, and discover 30 different options. You look up. Spread across the stage are 30 numbers, hanging from a clothesline.
Suddenly, an unusual man appears on stage and informs you that YOU will be in charge of your experience, sort of. He says that when YOU hear “Curtain!” it’s your job to shout out a number from your menu. Then a cast member will remove that number from the clothesline and the play will begin. Upon completion of that play, “Curtain!” will be yelled again. You clap. You cheer. You laugh. You cry.
After the show, you feel good. You call that relative you’ve been meaning to call. You share your experience with them and try to describe the indescribable. They ask how they can get a slice of that pie. And you tell them, “It’s 30 NEO-FUTURIST PLAYS FROM TOO MUCH LIGHT MAKES THE BABY GO BLIND (30 PLAYS IN 60 MINUTES) at the Studio Theatre. It runs November 1-4, 2018. Tickets are $5 + the roll of a die. It’s located at the Springfield Little Theatre Education Facility – 237 South Florence Avenue, Springfield, MO. You can get tickets by calling 417-413-ACTS…. It’s an experience like no other.”
