The Springfield Regional Arts Council, in conjunction with Springboard for the Arts, created a toolkit for communities to develop their own Growing Up in the Arts Workshops. Growing Up in the Arts, established by the SRAC in 2002, is designed to instill cultural and academic confidence and a lifetime appreciation for the arts in area at-risk youth. The program is structured to give students a balance between hands-on exposure to several disciplines within each art form and the opportunity to experience live performances, art galleries and concerts.
“We are excited about the potential to use the toolkit for preparing other communities to host their own “Growing Up in the Arts” activities,” says Rachel Johnson, Director of Programming and Exhibitions. “We have found a method that facilitates collaboration between artists, youth, and the community, and are happy that Creative Exchange can help spread that mission.”
The new toolkits, available through Creative Exchange, are designed for communities across the country to establish their own Growing Up In The Arts program. The kits are available for free through SpringboardExchange.Org
