Springfield Regional Opera 40th Season Begins

Springfield Regional Opera

Everything begins on August 16th at the historic Gillioz Theatre as we celebrate 40 years of operatic excellence in the Ozarks with SRO's Greatest Hits.  Hear some of the most beloved arias of all time, and after the concert, join us for a special celebration featuring a small silent auction and the chance to meet some of our performers.

Next, explore the more risqué side of the vocal arts with an evening of music spanning several centuries of...well...inappropriate song. At 2Naughty2Handel on November 1st at the Hotel Vandivort, nothing is off-limits as Handel himself hosts a performance loosely inspired by his opera The Triumph of Time and Truth. Leave the kids at home for this one!

Our season ends on April 3rd and 4th with the triumphant return of opera star Michael Spyres to the Springfield stage—his first role performance in the midwest
since becoming an international phenomenon. Experience the searing passion of Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci coupled with an original Vaudeville conceived and created by Michael Spyres and Edoardo Zucchetti which explores the roots of Springfield’s own vaudeville history.
