Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind

Springfield Theatre

AN EDUCATION STUDIO THEATRE PRODUCTION

OCTOBER 16-19, 2019

Picture this: It’s nearly show-time, though you’ve arrived a little early because you’re an upstanding citizen. You park your car (that you wish was a little bit cleaner… but you’ll get to it when you get to it). You walk into the lobby only to discover it is alive with raucous parlor games and shenanigans. Something tells you this theatrical experience will be unlike any other. Without much thought, you leap into the middle of the swarming hoard of theatre goers and you play along. Your kindergarten teacher would be proud of your ability to participate and make new friends. Gold star! You make your way to the ticket line, you roll the die, you pay $5 + the amount of the die (totaling $6-$11) for your ticket, you thank the nice lady, and you make your way to the Studio Theatre. Well done! But the fun has only just begun… You’re given a name tag and a menu. You take your seat, open your menu, and discover 30 different options. Hmm, you think. You look up. Spread across the stage are 30 numbers, hanging from a clothesline. Hmm, you think again. Something strange is going on here. Just then, a man appears and tells you that you (YES YOU!) have a job to do. You and the actors are in a battle against the clock. There are only 60 minutes and both of you want to get through all 30 plays. Once a play finishes, you yell the number of the next play you’d like to see (because it’s your job), and the dance continues. You clap. You cheer. You laugh. You cry. You bravely access all of your emotions, sometimes unnecessarily, but your fellow audience members forgive you because they’re all well-adjusted adults who believe in supporting their fellow man. It’s a theatrical experience like none other. Run, don’t walk to Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind!
