OCTOBER 10-13, 2019

Close-knit friends can often help each other find the bliss in everyday life.
Sticks is about finding your bliss and treating age for what it is: just a number. It takes place in the present day time period. It is set in a knitting shop owned by a lovely lady in her late forties to early fifties named Gypsy after the famous musical. The play opens with Gypsy and her cousin Dorcas, also named after a character in a musical, chatting and bickering about knitting and life, as they are both going through menopause. Soon their three other long-time friends, Ray, Addy and Cassie enter, each with their own problems and issues. A magical older lady named Glinda they’ve never met seems to float into the scene, right before they are hit by a tornado.
The five main characters have known each other all through school, and their teenage selves make a few comical appearances. Over the course of a couple of months they realize more than ever that throughout all of life’s losses and problems the most important thing in the world is love and relationships, although you can’t always protect yourself from being hurt or completely define love and put it in a box. They each discover how to keep happiness, creativity, hope, faith and love alive no matter what your age.
