After surviving a shipwreck, Viola and her twin brother Sebastian find themselves separated, each believing the other to be drowned.

Disguised as a young man, Viola - under the name of Cesario - becomes a servant for Duke Orsino who loves Olivia, but she does not feel the same about him. Sending Cesario(Viola) to woo Olivia on his behalf, Olivia unfortunately falls for Cesario(Viola) who - in the meantime - has secretly fallen in love with Orsino.

So... Viola loves Orsino, Orsino loves Olivia and Olivia loves Cesario/Viola.

Meanwhile, Sebastian arrives (not knowing his sister is alive) and meets Olivia. Mistaking him for Cesario, Olivia asks him to marry her, and in a whirlwind of wonder he agrees.

Amidst everyone’s befuddlement as to who loves whom…Malvolio, Olivia’s butler, is secretly in love with her, and the other members of the household trick him into believing that these feelings are returned.

Despite all of the confusion of mistaken identities, love triangles, jests, and joviality... everything gets sorted out...
eventually.
