Final Call for Veterans' Views at Art Museum

The final deadline for Veterans' Views submissions is March 31

The Springfield Art Museum and Drury University reminds all veterans to submit their entries for Veterans’ Views before the March 31, 2017 deadline.

Veterans' Views is a juried exhibition highlighting photographs taken by living members of our nation's armed services, relating to their military experience. This exhibit is organized by the Springfield Art Museum in collaboration with Drury University and will be juried by Rebecca Miller, Associate Professor, Pool Art Center Gallery Director and Photography Program Coordinator and Dr. Thomas E. Russo, Associate Dean, International Programs and Professor of Art History at Drury University, and Sarah Buhr, Curator of Art at the Springfield Art Museum.

Photographs must have been taken while on active duty for any branch of the United States Military, including National Guard Service. Subject matter is not limited - photographs may depict scenes of active duty and/or friends, civilians, the landscape, or scenery at any location or site visited during the tour of duty.

Veterans do not need to consider themselves "artists,” or professional photographers in order to enter, the jurors are particularly interested in highlighting the personal view of time spent while serving our country. There is no entry fee for veterans to submit their photographs. For full information on entry rules and how to submit photos, please

Posthumous entries are not eligible for this exhibition. However, the exhibit will include a “Veterans Family Tree,” an interactive communal space where patrons can make and post copies of photographs of family members who were veterans, deceased veterans’ photos, or leave memories of service members. Veterans Views’ is scheduled to run from July – November of 2017. The Springfield Art Museum is located at 1111 E. Brookside Drive. Admission is always free.
