The Ozark Greenways, Jordan Valley Park, Springfield Regional Arts Council and Sculpture Walk Springfield have pulled together to reveal to the public 4-5 new permanent sculptures to be displayed this fall in Jordan Valley Park. These pieces will extend the existing public art route, creating a museum without walls with access to all in the heart of Downtown Springfield. Funds have been provided by a Collective Impact Grant from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
All sculptures submitted should be suitable for permanent placement outdoors and suitable for family enjoyment. While there are no specific design restrictions, the pieces will be placed on heavy traffic streetscapes, Greenway trails and play areas. Residents and tourists alike will be doing active, outdoor activities and are likely to take photos on or near these pieces. Sculptures suited for photo opportunities and/or with transportation themes, may be given special consideration. The budget to purchase each sculpture will be $4,000 - $7,000 each.
To submit a sculpture, please send up to 2 photos to email@example.com along with medium(s,) dimensions, weight and sales price. An artist’s statement is welcome. Drawings may be submitted if sculptures are able to be completed no later than September 1, 2017. In addition, Sculpture Walk Springfield’s Executive Director, Nicole Brown, would be happy to answer any questions you may have. You may contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 417-894-0009.
Entry deadline is May 15, 2017.
