Want to add your own voice to the “Universe of Stories”? Attend this crash course in storytelling taught by Derek Cowsert, library staff member and Ozarks Technical Community College English instructor, with a focus on short- and long-form fiction, highlighting the differences between the two.

Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to attend Galactic Spray Paint Art from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, in the Library Center Story Hour Room, 4653 S. Campbell Ave.

Artist Taylor Hopkins will demonstrate how to use spray paint to create works of art, then create your own galactic art. Materials will be provided.

Memphis-based artist, muralist and educator Amy-Beth Rice will guide participants in the creation of a small mural with a community-focused theme to be displayed at the Library Center. Materials will be provided. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC), a nonprofit based in Hollister, is pleased to announce a new art camp under its comprehensive Summer Art Camp Program. The Program, supported by The City of Hollister, uses highly experienced art instructors to provide opportunities for local children to learn about visual art through guided exploration and play.

Whether you’re an accomplished songwriter or a fan of music, learn about songwriting with Library staff member Joe Misterovich. Feel free to bring an instrument, a song of your own or a poem and get ready to be creative. We’ll look at some first steps to songwriting and write our own songs together!
