empower: abilities invites you to be part of Beyond the Canvas: A Collaborative Art Experience—a new
community event we believe will become something truly special.
This unique initiative pairs local artists with individuals with disabilities to co-create
original works of art. Through a series of collaborative sessions, each partnership will
create a one-of-a-kind piece that celebrates creativity, connection, and shared
expression.
We would be honored to have you participate as one of our featured ARTists.
What to Expect
Participants will be matched one-on-one with a local artist and collaborate over
approximately 3–4 sessions, scheduled at times that work for both of you. An informal
Meet and Greet will be scheduled and provide the opportunity to meet your assigned
partner, meet other artists, and ask questions. The experience concludes with a
community exhibition and celebration on December 10 featuring the completed
artwork. Please review the attached Artist Profile & Participation Form for additional
details about what to expect.
As a participating artist, you will:
• Partner with one individual to create an original work of art.
• Provide materials needed to complete your project, with an optional
$200 stipend available to help offset project expenses.
• Host collaborative art sessions at times that work for both of you.
• Participate in brief photo and storytelling opportunities throughout the process.
• Join us for the exhibition and celebration on December 10 alongside your partner.
Why Participate?
• Share your talent through a meaningful creative partnership.
• Gain a new artistic perspective while celebrating the abilities and stories of your
partner.
• Help create a memorable community experience that inspires inclusion and
connection.
The completed artwork will be featured in a public exhibition on December 10
at empower: abilities’ new location, 3345 S. Campbell Avenue in Springfield.
