Tremendicon is a three-day Multi-Media Creators Convention in Springfield, MO, at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center. The entire weekend will be a PLAYGROUND TO CREATE AND COLLABORATE, put on by creators for creators and the people that love enjoying those tremendous creations!

We will be highlighting a variety of creative communities with a track-based convention setup. This will allow attendees to focus on their specific areas of interest with the ability to branch out and discover new ones.

OUR VISION
Participants leave the convention with newfound knowledge, inspiration and relationships that will guide them into a future with the creative arts while giving back to the community through our selected charities.

We are nonprofit, we support area artists and creators with contest winnings and give most of our profits to Ozarks Food Harvest.

Join us in celebrating our local schools' winners in the Springfield Council of PTA's Reflections competition. Reflections is a National PTA (Parent Teacher Association) program that encourages students to explore the world around them by creating art in response to a theme. The Reflections theme for 2023-24 is "I am Hopeful Because..." with entries in the categories of literature, music composition, dance choreography, film, photography, and visual arts. The awards ceremony begins at 7:00 PM, but guests are welcome to browse the gallery starting at 6:30 PM.

The Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) will present the work of College of the Ozarks graduate Olivia Stephens in a solo exhibit, Strange as Ever, at the SMAC Art Center at 7 Downing Street, Hollister, Missouri, September 8 - 30. She has been SMAC’s Artist in Resident for the past year, a position made possible through grants from Community Foundation of the Ozarks and Springfield Regional Arts Council.

An opening night reception for the exhibit will be held on Friday, September 8, 6-9 p.m. Coffee will be available at the Vintage Paris kiosk inside the center, as well as other snacks and refreshments. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
“The theme of my show,” Stephens said, “is about finding my passion again.” She had experienced post-graduate burnout after completing her fine arts degree. “It’s a love letter to my little me who used to get up Saturday mornings to create art. And it’s a love letter to future me, who is working hard to keep art always in her life.” These “love letters,” are the culmination of work she created during her residency, which ends August 31.

In addition, each month during their exhibits, SMAC highlights one of the many local non-profit organizations that serves the area. This month SMAC is drawing attention to Faith Community Health, a Christian faith-based charitable clinic offering income-based health services in Branson.

Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC), a 501C3 non-profit local center of creativity, art education, innovation, and community partnership, strives to improve the quality of life in southern Missouri by connecting individuals with the arts, for the benefit of all.

The Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) presents approximately 12 exhibitions throughout the year in our Art Center Gallery. The program presents a diverse range of creative approaches, mediums, and backgrounds in artists. The SMAC began in 2014. It has been in its current location on Downing Street in Hollister, Missouri’s historic district since July of 2020. Exhibitions at the SMAC Arts Center originate by the Gallery Committee or from exhibition proposals submitted by outside curators and artists. All proposals should aim to present exhibitions that are aesthetically strong, and that provide the community with the opportunity to explore topics of cultural, artistic, and social relevance.

The curator/artist proposing the exhibition is encouraged to view gallery specifications and see the space during gallery hours to tailor their proposal to the space.

Proposal submissions are accepted year round. All proposals must adhere to the guidelines. But the deadline for proposals for the coming year must be submitted no later than August 31, 2023. The gallery committee will then meet in September to review all the proposals and make its decisions.

The proposal must include the following:

Résumé
Résumé should be typed with 8.5″ x 11″ format in no less than 10-point font. PDF
Group proposals should include all participants’ resumes.

Exhibition Statement
Statement should include a suggested title of your exhibition. Include your name, identify yourself as the featured artist or curator, specify solo or group exhibition, and if the latter, include the names of the other artist(s).

Exhibition Proposal Details
Describe the concept or theme of the exhibition.
For artists only: describe your current work, as well as your proposed work, noting any significant new direction your work will take.
Identify any special equipment or other requirements you may need that may become an impediment to presenting this proposed exhibition.
Include details of any supplementary public programs or presentations. We encourage participants to also propose additional artist talks, panel discussions, or workshops geared toward engaging the general public (if applicable).
Indicate whether the accompanying images are images you are proposing for the exhibition or are representative images only.
File Format: doc, docx, pdf, txt, rtf. Max Size 1MB.

Images
Attach 10 Images
File Format: JPEG, Max Size 800 x 600 pixels, 512kb

Our 7-member gallery committee will review each individual proposal and use a 5-question scoring sheet to select exhibitors. Each proposal will be rated on a scale of 1-6 in the content areas of technical skill, originality/creativity, concept, composition and marketability. The ratings will be tallied for each proposal and the highest numbers will be offered an open slot on our 2024 schedule.

If you have not visited the SMAC Gallery before, we highly recommend that you come and see the space in person. Our gallery is welcoming and offers viewers an intimate art experience. You can find the gallery dimensions on our website for review.

If all guidelines are not met your proposal might be rejected. Please direct all inquiries to Mary Evelyn Tucker: [email protected]

Artists throughout the ages have been fascinated by dance and have sought to capture its beauty, grace and energy. Perhaps this is because dance is such a sensory feast! If you think of a dance as a 3-D moving picture, the visual art elements of line, shape, color, texture, contrast and composition are all there — wonderfully animated by rhythm and music. Dance has a unique power to express ideas and emotions, from the most primal to the most ethereal, as the performers bring their canvas to life. Come and share the joy of "Art in Motion" as we present a gallery of vibrant, new works by our students, faculty and guest artists!

Hollister, Missouri—The Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) is excited to host Tenille Blair-Neff in a solo exhibit in September titled Middle Age. The show will run from September 2-30, with the opening reception the Friday evening, September 2 from 6-9 p.m. The SMAC gallery is located at 7 Downing Street in Hollister.
Middle Age is an exploration of the sandwich years of aging parents and raising children. Aging parents need more attention on one side while children need support, encouragement and guidance on the other. It can be a stressful, hard season in an adult’s life, but also filled with happiness. Through this show, Blair-Neff will take the viewer on a journey of middle age as she has experienced it. “My work for this exhibit represents my felt experiences of this stage of life,” she said. “It is a meditation on the past and how we remember those we have lost, as well as reflecting on how we will be remembered.”
For this show, Blair-Neff incorporates an eclectic mix of materials that speak of her past identity as a sculptor as well as collage, painting, drawing, animation and installation. The work builds upon and expands the styles and themes from her artistic journey through the years. She is an accomplished artist who has participated in more than 50 national and international exhibitions. This exhibit will make her fourth solo show. She is also a creative arts therapist, psychoanalyst and professional counselor in Branson. She is inspired by the complexity and visceral nature inherent in our emotional experience.
Both viewing of the exhibit and attending the reception are free and open to the public. The Vintage Paris Coffee kiosk will also be on hand for opening night. This year, SMAC is highlighting worthy non-profit organizations. This month, we are spotlighting the Child Abuse Prevention and Elimination Foundation (CAPE). CAPE is a non-profit organization designed to bridge the gap between funding and mental health care so that no child or family goes without the care desperately needed to heal from abuse.
