Kris Kristofferson’s story is fairly well-known – he had a dream, along with the necessary talent and ambition, to become a songwriter. It wasn’t long after arriving in Nashville in the early 1960s that he was receiving armloads of acclaim and being hailed as one of America’s clearest and most important voices, having penned such classics as “Me and Bobby McGee”, “Sunday Morning Coming Down”, “For the Good Times”, and many others. Now Kristofferson has reached living legend status, but that hasn’t changed or hindered his skills. His new music, like his classics, explores topics that resonate with us all – love, gratitude, aging, war, and his ever-present theme of freedom – with all the passion, depth and artistry that make Kris Kristofferson’s music distinctive, vivid, deeply emotional, beautiful…and unforgettable.

In response to the tragedy in Haiti, Springfield Little Theatre is partnering with Convoy of Hope in a canned food drive. Prior to the earthquake last Tuesday, Convoy of Hope fed more than 7,000 Hatian children each day. They have now opened their warehouse in an effort to help supply food to the thousands of families in need. Convoy of Hope's greatest need is canned food items. For that reason, Springfield Little Theatre has established a canned food drive in conjunction with their production of The King and I. Patrons can receive $5.00 off each and every King and I ticket they purchase by donating 4 cans per ticket. This offer is good for any King and I performance.

GONE WITH THE WIND
Friday Feb. 12 & Saturday Feb. 13 @ 7 PM
Sunday Feb. 14 Valentine's Matinee @ 2 PM

Tickets $5.00
available at the box office or through our website

Doors open one hour prior to show

See this historic film like you've never seen it before!

Gone with the Wind is a 1939 American film adapted from Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel of the same name. It was produced by David O. Selznick and directed by Victor Fleming from a screenplay by Sidney Howard.

The epic film, set in the American South in and around the time of the American Civil War, stars Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Leslie Howard, and Olivia de Havilland. It tells a story of the Civil War and its aftermath from a white Southern viewpoint.

It received ten Academy Awards (8 competitive, 2 honorary), a record that stood for twenty years. In the American Film Institute's inaugural Top 100 American Films of All Time list of 1998, it was ranked number four; although in the 2007 10th Anniversary edition of that list, it was dropped two places, to number six. In June 2008, AFI revealed its 10 top 10-the best ten films in ten American film genres-after polling over 1,500 persons from the creative community. Gone with the Wind was acknowledged as the fourth best film in the Epic genre.

It has sold more tickets in the U.S. than any other film in history, and is considered a prototype of a Hollywood blockbuster. Today, it is considered one of the greatest and most popular films of all time and one of the most enduring symbols of the golden age of Hollywood. When adjusted for inflation, Gone with the Wind remains the highest grossing film, both internationally and domestically, of all time.

Doors will open one hour prior to the show.
Tickets are only $5.00 and are available at the Gillioz box office,

Operated by the Springfield Landmarks Preservation Trust, the restoration of the Gillioz Theatre was completed in October 2006, eighty years after the original opening. In its early years, the Gillioz was Springfield's premier entertainment venue, hosting a number of movie premiers and vaudeville shows. Both the lobby and auditorium have been restored to their original 1926 condition, which has made it a must-see for tourists traveling the former Route 66. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

With a seating capacity of 1130, 690 on Orchestra level, and 440 in the Balcony, the Gillioz offers Springfield a perfect sized venue for many events. The Gillioz Theatre in conjunction with the Jim D. Morris Building serves a plethora of functions including Broadway productions, theatre, movies, religious gatherings, arts education, dining, rehearsals, school programs, banquets, receptions, concerts, film festivals, weddings, seminars/conventions, and television broadcasts.
